A special $500.00 tax on only new Gold Rush residents will generate nearly $1 million annually for paid firefighters to be on call 5 days a week. (Development Agreement, page 20) Dedication of a site for a fire station. In response to comments made by local residents at public forums held
in April 2004, the applicant has incorporated additional public facilities
into the project. To facilitate access to existing public roads, the project
sponsor has proposed two new sites for public safety facilities on the
eastern edge of the project site along Ridge Road. These sites would accommodate
both a new police sub-station and a fire station site sized to
accommodate both fire equipment and paramedic facilities. "Gold Rush improves our emergency services" -Butch Martin, Sutter Creek Fire Chief
